💡11 Story-Telling Hooks For You To Try
A guide to using story-telling hooks in different post formats to nurture your audience and deepen your connection with them
Heads up lovely people.
At the start of July I’m going to be announcing some changes to my 121 services which includes an increase in my rates.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a one-off 121 UNRAVEL Call, OR a bundle of 3 monthly calls (which currently are known as BUILD, or LAUNCH, depending on your main focus) you have until 30th June to book at the current price.
NB. You don’t have to take the call straight away, you can book it for after the summer, but if you want to secure the current rate now is the time to book!
Drop me an email if you have any questions, or you can book a 30 min, no-obligation, Discovery Call to find out more 😘
Why is personal story-telling such an important ingredient to add to your content mix?
One of the reasons I think authors and writers find it difficult to keep coming up with ideas for Instagram posts is because you assume every post has to be about, or at least linked to, your book or writing.
However, an important part of nurturing your audience into becoming your readers is giving them more than a sales pitch for your book, or even educational content, which may be super-valuable but still doesn’t give people a flavour for who you are, why you do what you do, and what makes you the right person for them to trust with not only their money but their time.
This is why personal story-telling should be part of your content mix.
Some of the stories you tell may well be linked to scenarios the characters in your book are facing, or might be stories about how you experienced the obstacles or challenges your book is seeking to solve for your readers, BUT they can also be stories that are not linked to your book in any way. Instead they become a way for people to get to know you a little more.
In all of these stories, the magic ingredient is you. You are the person ___ happened to, or who found themselves in ___ situation, and you are the only person who can tell that story in the way you tell it.
Sometimes, writers - especially those of you who’re writing about your expertise, and novelists who think you’re safe from this particular demand - freak out a bit when I ask you to lift the veil on yourselves even a little bit.
But, as writers, story-telling is your super-power and the great news is it can deliver fantastic levels of engagement, especially when you make it personal.
