Why is collaboration an important part of growth content?

Collaboration is often overlooked in favour of endless conversations about what should I post, and how do I make it ‘work’ for me. Instagram is such a content-hungry creature that this emphasis on post ideas and tactics isn’t surprising, but if you’re not leveraging the opportunities for collaboration as a growth tactic, then you are missing a serious trick!

Collaboration basically means working with someone else - another account - so that you get exposure to their audience, and in return they get exposure to yours. When a collaboration is a good fit, there’s a high chance that audience members of all partners in the collaboration will migrate their attention over to the other account.

That’s not to say they will buy your book immediately, but they will now be part of your audience so you have the chance to use your other content to ‘nurture’ them and show them why they should give your book a chance.

Six ways to collaborate on Instagram

Not all of these collaboration types will be appropriate for every writer as it may depend on your stage of the publication journey, your genre, your niche, and your personal preferences.

In the planning session on Thurs 6th March I’ll talk you through where these opportunities fit into your content mix.
