Hello and welcome to Day 2 of Week 2 of RESET!

The theme for this week is REPAIR and the prompts, tasks and exercises I’m going to send you are designed to emphasise the positives of using Instagram and start to repair how you think and feel about it.

Just like last week, you’ll receive five daily prompts Mon-Fri. You’ll then have the weekend to catch up or just take a break from thinking about Instagram.

If you’ve missed the first week of prompts you can find the whole series so far here:

🛠 REPAIR WEEK, Day Two

Today, I invite you to think about the accounts that make you feel a bit
 crappy.

You know the ones. You follow them because you like their content, you find them interesting and inspiring, and you want to be more like them
but you’re not. You’re you, and those accounts - through no fault of their own - feed your insecurities and inadequacies.

My clients are sometimes a little embarrassed to admit they feel this way. They say it’s silly or childish. I say, let’s not attach any ‘morality’ to the feelings.

In an ideal world we’d all have access to the kind of support or therapy that might, over time, better equip us to deal with these triggers, but failing that, perhaps we can instead take charge of what we’re exposing ourselves to?

There are no medals for following accounts that make us feel crappy, no matter how nice/ inspiring/ talented/ interesting/ knowledgable the person behind the account might be. Rather than allowing Instagram to amplify our insecurities and make us not want to show up, we can quieten down the noise to make it an easier, safer place to spend time.

This will clear our mind to focus on our own content, and our own writing, making Instagram more enjoyable and sustainable which in turn, makes finding and engaging your readers more likely.
