It’s ‘back to school’ season and people are looking ahead, reflecting on what they want the rest of the year to look like, and maybe setting some intentions for how they want to show up with their work, their writing or their personal lives.

Lots of people will be entering the autumn after a busy summer of juggling parenting alongside work so they might also be thinking about this period as a reset and getting back into a routine. Overall, it’s a great time to (re)introduce yourself to your audience.

A re-introduction doesn’t need to look like ‘hi, I’m Nicola and I’m a blahblahblah’. These posts have their place but a re-intro can also be a post that gives a flavour for where you are, and what you’re thinking, at that moment in time.

Again, this gives your audience a sense of who you are, and how they might relate to you. Perhaps you’re at a similar life stage to them and are looking for the same things, or maybe you can give them some inspiration or encouragement.

There are lots of ways you can create this kind of post but today I’m going to suggest a super-simple, lo-fi post idea that you can create in less than 10 minutes.

  1. Set a timer for 10 mins.

  2. Open the notes app on your phone and type out a list of what is ‘In’ for September, and then another list of what is ‘Out’.

  3. Screenshot your two lists so they show up in your camera roll.

  4. Open Instagram and post the two lists as a carousel. You can add a photo of yourself as the front slide if you want to. Research shows that photos of faces are more likely to receive more engagement, and hopefully by now you’re going to know what I have to say about the importance of engagement 😉

  5. Pin this post to the top of your grid so that new visitors to your account can get a sense of who you are.

Check in with my post today on my Instagram account if you’re not sure what this post should look like ❤️

I hope you’ve found this useful - let me know in the comments if you have any questions or thoughts.
