Loving this challenge. Today has been great as it made me realise that I’ve been missing opportunities for connection. Just focussing for ten minutes on the posts I’m really interested in and engaging with them, and filtering out the distracting noise! 💖
I think I need to do some housekeeping whom I follow, because there is so much stuff in my feed that’s not a fit aka where my target audience can be found.
What I learned: if the point of all our work marketing our book is meant to attract readers, my feed is filled with authors, publishers, book marketers and friends
It definitely takes some thinking, but you only need to do it once. Two tips to help you find some relevant accounts: 1. think of the themes and ideas in your book - who are the people posting about those things who are not necessarily writing about them? 2. If you can just think of ONE account, go to their account and look at who else Instagram recommends (tap on the small grey person icon next to the 'follow' button).
It’s such a common problem for writers because often our initial use of IG is to build a network of writers etc for support, advice etc. This is super valuable BUT is different to using ig to reach readers!

YES! I love this observation. There is so much noise that it's easy to be pulled away from the reason we're there in the first place!
I am loving these practical posts
😊 love a good practical exercise to get my teeth into!

Ohh this is SUCH a valuable observation! So where are your readers hanging out? Who do they follow? Can you go and meet them there?!
It’s a rather harder one to pin down but, yes, I can see that it has to be done! This week is great for focussing the mind a bit.

So true! I’ve been thinking about that too. Loving the daily reboot suggestions though.
