This was fab - so useful to dedicate some time thinking about my underlying 'philosophy' of IG. I'm gathering my notes to write down a statement of intent for my manifesto - do you have any thoughts on some useful wording for that?

OOh great question. I actually nearly provided a 'writing frame' and then had to remind myself I had paid work to do 😆 Are these sentence starters helpful at all?

My purpose for being on Instagram is ___

I do not value/ am not interested in/ will not prioritise ___

When people join me on my Instagram account, I want them to feel ___

So I am going to prioritise ___

When I feel ___ I am going to ___ [could be a combination of practical actions and also resetting intentions - you might have more than one of these sentences]

I am going to 'find my fun' on Instagram by ___

Really interesting talky-workshopy-talk! 😁 Thank you Nicola I'm about to launch my latest book and this really is great food for thought. I'll be coming back to watch your next talky-workshopy-talk (I am genuinely hoping this word gets adopted by the Oxford English Dictionary) on time management. I schedule posts a week at a time and as I've recently been feeling unwell it did occur to me how long would it take for people to notice that I actually wasn't around (my Friday essay will now be about just that!) Love love love your viewpoint of having my own manifesto and posting as a form of service to the community. Great stuff Nicola, thank you so much for sharing 💚💚🙏🙏

Oh - I also meant to say! - I published the 'time management' workshop yesterday. You can find it here: https://open.substack.com/pub/nicolawashington/p/free-workshop-use-instagram-to-find?r=4mw0i&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false ❤️

haha my obsession with unnecessary accuracy knows no bounds - I tied myself in knots because for me a workshop is super-hands-on and I felt like this contained too much talking to comfortably call it a workshop 🙈😆 annyyyywayyy... thanks so much for such a warm and supportive comment ❤️

Love this way of thinking about it. I'm not an author (yet!) but do struggle with Instagram at times. I'll definitely be reviewing how to use it in alignment with my values

That’s great to hear, Natasha. It is a process so you might not land on it immediately but *knowing* it’s possible to assert control and intention is the first step, I think ❤️
