👀 In case you missed it…
I want to guide writers and authors to a place when you can generate your own content that is perfect for your ideal readers. But I also understand there are seasons when time or creativity are in short supply and what you really need is a list of ‘plug and play’ post ideas to keep you moving forwards with your book promotion and audience building.
This month I’ve put together this list 👇🏼 of 24 summer post ideas. Simply choose the ideas you like and serve them up to your audience ❤️

Some useful content from across the internet 🧠
I’m not a fan of some of the screen discourse that is popular at the moment and much prefer evidence-based, thoughtful takes like those of psychologists and dads,
and Andy Przybylski, in their new(ish) podcast, Screen Sense: Parenting in a Digital Worlda super-useful breakdown of the marketing funnel most traditional publishers use and what you as an author should (and should not) be involving yourself with
this clip of Ocean Vuong talking about ‘cringe culture’ and how it holds his students back feels highly relevant as you tell me often about your battles with feeling awkward and self-conscious about self-promotion and book marketing
along the same lines, this made me laugh and made me think about how owning the thing we most fear people will say or think can (sometimes) take away (some of) its power
this is an excellent piece about the importance of understanding comparables for your marketing activity, as well as when you’re pitching your book
💬 Need-To-Know Instagram Updates
🌪 content churn on IG has long been a concern for users who’ve had the sense that you’re not getting much pay off from the time you spend making posts. Recent data from Insta throws this up in the air as they’ve revealed that, on average, Reels can take up to 70 days to reach their lifetime views, carousels take up to 35 days, and static posts take up to 20 days. Another reason to move to Reels and Carousels as your priority content formats if you haven’t already done so, and to STOP deleting posts because you think they ‘haven’t performed well’.
🚨 attention YA authors - the latest report on teen usage of social media has indicated that Instagram is making a surprise comeback, and could soon overtake Tiktok in importance for this age group! Something to think about if you’re weighing up whether you need another platform in your life, or are better off staying where you are comfortable.
PSSST… I’m now fully booked for my 121 services until November.
I can support you as you build a platform on Instagram to strengthen a book proposal, or show you how to use Instagram to make sure you’re not launching your book into the void.
So, if you’re looking for realistic Instagram book marketing support that understands the challenges writers and authors face, please book a free 30 minute Discovery Call - I look forward to meeting you!
