Oh wow, we have a lot in common! I also find it difficult to speak coherently without a script, I struggle with transitioning from work to family time - especially in the late afternoons (when, ironically, I often seem to be getting into the swing of things just as everyone returns home from work and school 🙈) and I'm also a victim of that stuck-ness of switching between tasks and losing time scrolling and faffing about online instead of Doing The Thing. Not sure what the solution is to make transitions easier, but it's good to know I'm not alone...
I've just discovered the Sound Circle but I'm now watching with interest as audio is something I want to experiment more with on Substack - so thanks for sharing this as it's inspiring to see other people do it despite the vulnerability and fear of rambling!
Hi Julianne - thanks so much for commenting. It’s always good to hear I’m not the only one struggling with these very specific things! I really enjoyed my first foray into audio and def think I’ll be doing more of it!
Love, love, LOVE this contribution to the Sound Circle, Nicola.
I've got sopping wet dishwater hands (dried to type this!) as I've been listening while starting to get the kitchen tidied up for dinner, so felt this a fitting listen. I've been working at the island unit since I collected a child and her pal from the school bus stop a couple of hours ago, and now time is against me as I have to do the feeding bit before the Brownies run... I wish I could remember to stop work just a wee bit earlier than I do on these afternoons so that things aren't as rushed (or perhaps I could put off typing this... NAH!)
Thanks for the prompt and encouragement Lindsay - who knew something so simple could be so nerve-wracking! I’m about to go and cook tea. I’ve managed to tie up the loose ends but I sometimes wonder what I could achieve if life didn’t get in the way ;-)

That's why retreat time is so special, isn't it? No one else to cater for or accommodate!
