Welcome to Day Four of the WAKE UP INSTAGRAM Challenge - a week-long series of 10 min daily tasks to ‘wake up’ your Instagram account and get you back in front of your favourite people after you’ve been on a break.
TASK FOUR
Listen to the audio, or read the instructions below, to join in ❤️
Set a timer for 10 minutes.
Open Instagram and go to your Explore page. You will find this at the bottom of your screen, where the magnifying glass icon is.
When your Explore page opens up there is a search bar at the top. Use this to search some keywords from your genre/ niche and then scroll through the posts that are generated.
Comment meaningfully on posts from accounts that do not follow you. Again, do not force this - only comment on posts that genuinely speak to you. If you don’t find anything, close your app when your timer goes off and get on with the rest of your day. Come back tomorrow and try again if you want to.
How does it work?
Again this is pro-social behaviour which The App Gods like, and you never know those people might come and check out your account.
More than this though, it might be useful to think of this as introducing yourself to imagine you are speaking to new people at an author event you’ve attended. It’s a pretty safe bet you will have similar interests (otherwise what are you doing there?!) and you never know what starting a conversation with someone new might lead to.
